frequently asked questions
Here is everything you need to know about joining our dance family!
We've gathered the most common questions from parents to help you feel confident and excited about starting your journey with Diversity Dance.
What ages and experience levels do you serve?
We welcome dancers from toddlers through teens! Whether your child is just ready to start their first dance class, or is looking for advanced technical training, we have a place for them at every skill level.
What is the difference between Academy and Company?

Our Academy program is purely recreational and designed to help students gain confidence, technique, coordination, weekly skill building, and a love for dance in a fun and supportive environment. They will perform in a recital at the end of each term during the school year, and an in house showcase at the end of the summer.

Company is our competition track, designed for motivated dancers looking for an additional push in training, technique, and performance opportunities. These team programs are by audition only, and we have multiple levels available. They will compete 1-3 routines in 4 competitions and perform in an end of season showcase.
How do I register and what should I know about tuition?
Registration is easy through our online portal! Tuition is divided into monthly installments to keep dance affordable for families. We offer multi-class and sibling discounts to help our families grow with us.

A non-refundable fee of $35 per family is due annually. Students who pay a registration fee for summer classes will not owe another registration fee for the school year.
Academy costs are as follows:
*$35 family registration fee per year
*$45 a month for 45-60 minute Academy classes
*$55 a month for 90 minute Academy classes
There is a $5 tuition discount per additional Academy class within a family, whether for the same child or a sibling. (I.E. if first class is $45, every additional class in a family, whether for the same child or a sibling is only $40). The discount only applies to academy dance classes and not company. Tuition is nonrefundable and cannot be prorated due to missed classes. Payments can be made by check, credit card, or cash at the studio, paid online through your Parent Portal, or you can set up autopay for automatic withdrawals. Tuition will be due by the 10th of every month. A $10 late fee will be added to any accounts not paid by the 10th.
What is the dress code and modesty standard?
We value appropriate attire for a focused environment. Proper dance shoes and modest, fitted clothing allow instructors to correct technique safely. We prioritize modest costuming for all our performances.

For all classes, students are to wear proper dance attire.
Dance classes: Students should wear clothes that are tight fitting and make it possible to tell if legs are straight, body is aligned, etc. If your child wants to wear tights in the regular dance classes, please make sure they are footless tights as the shoes we require need the heel to be exposed. Students are not to wear anything loose fitting or baggy. Loose fitting clothing is only allowed for Hip Hop classes.
Boys: Basketball shorts and a t-shirt that can be tucked in are best options.
Ballet classes: Black leo, pink footed tights, pink leather split sole ballet shoes, and hair slicked back into a bun. These are REQUIRED for ballet. Students will have to sit and observe class if not dressed appropriately.
Tumbling classes: Unitards are best. No tights. No socks or dance shoes. Boys may wear basketball shorts with a long enough t-shirt to stay tucked in at all times.
For all classes, it is imperative that your child's hair is pulled up and out of their face, including side pieces and bangs.
Your dancer will also need a bag to transport his or her dance shoes and other belongings in. Mark all of your child's things, including dance shoes, jackets, water bottles, etc.
What dance shoes will they need?
Academy dance classes: Eclipse half sole shoes
Ballet classes: Pink split sole ballet shoes
Hip Hop classes: An email will be sent the first week of classes with what shoes are needed.
Tumbling classes and Creative Movement classes: will be barefoot.

It is the parents responsibility to purchase these shoes and make sure their dancer brings them to class each week. Half sole shoes and ballet shoes are available for purchase at the front desk.
Students should never wear dance shoes outside. Have them come in street shoes and change into their dance shoes at the studio.
What happens if we miss a class or performance?
Consistency helps dancers excel! Our annual recitals and showcases are the highlight of our year, and we ask families to mark those dates early so everyone can participate.

If your child is sick or has to miss a class for any reason, please communicate that in your Parent Portal under "Attendance". But also remember that regular attendance is vital to your child's progression so please try to make attendance and being on time a big priority.
How do you handle safety and communication?
Student safety is our top priority. We maintain a positive, supervised environment at all times. Class sizes are capped to ensure each dancer gets personalized attention and proper floor space.
We communicate updates primarily via email and our studio parent portal to keep you informed of all upcoming events. If your email (or any other info) changes or you are not receiving emails from us, please first check that your info is correct in the portal, and then check your junk mail. If you are still not receiving emails, please let us know so we can look into it further. You will be receiving important information via email, as well as your child's dance music, reminders, newsletters, etc.. We do a lot of communication through email so please check yours weekly!
